Company/ Guns, no protection here!

In Pennsylvania the second amendment took another hit today, this time it was at the place I work. a friend and co-worker was let go because he had a handgun in his vehicle. the fact he is also a deputy game warden didn't seem to matter. What is this country comming to? he has a carry permit and he is a game warden, and his gun was locked in his vehicle.You would think that a vehicle is your property and would be safe from the company rules. You would also think that if the state allows and trusts you to be a responsible citizen the company wouldn't have the right to refuse you. A carry permit is for defence, personal protection. does the company you work for have the power to say you can not defend yourself to and from work, and if they don't want a person to bring thier guns into the work place wouldn't you think they would supply a secure place for your gun while you are working? In my opinion this is wrong, There was no warning or write up. first offence "your gone". What is your opinion?
